I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop and the Sony AD-5540A internal DVD re-writer in it has packed up, this drive reads CD+G discs and I wonder if anyone can advise me on a replacement DVD re-writer that will do the same job on the Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop and that is preferably readily available in the UK.

Cheers.

Will do.

As I am sure you are aware removing the drive from a laptop, well at least my laptop, requires just one small screw to be removed and then the drive slides out, the new one is goes into the same hole and the screw put back.

Hopefully even me with my 2 left hands can manage that, he he he!!!

You would be surprised how many dont come in removable bays . Its primarily so you can remove the optical drive and add a second hard drive bay .
