What would you say to be the minimum of songs to start with?
I assume you mean; how many songs should the KJ have in before they start?
Well, in my opinion, if you have a starting time then no matter how many singers you have there, you should make a start, it might encourage others in the audience to get up and have a go while it is quiet.
There have been times when early singers have asked for the place to fill up a bit before they sing, and of course I allow that....but it might mean they slip down the rotation a bit if they do, and just because they got their ticket in first, doesn't mean they will sing any faster 2nd time round. My singers go in the order they sang, so if someone opts out from singing in their given place, then down the list they go.
If like me, you only sing the first song to start everyone off, a quiet starting night might be the ideal opportunity to get some singing in for a change as well. :)
