Frequently asked questions about all aspects of karaoke
Should I use PAL or NTSC output from my karaoke machine?
Some UK players wil play colour images on NTSC mode but only if a pure SCART signal (via a SCART lead & not using PHONO plugs) is hitting the back of the TV.The reason for this is that a SCART plug has individual wiring within the cables for the colour of the image on screen (or RGB short for red, green & blue).
On SCART wiring, 1 wire feeds the red signal direct to the TV as well as another wire feeding the Green & another wire for the Blue signal whereas on PHONO setting the RGB is combined into 1 wire & the PAL TV cannot decode the signal.
NTSC usally runs at 60hz. PAL runs at 50hz so a PAL disk will generally play quicker on an NTSC machine.
